About Us

GeoAcoustics Ltd is a world-leading manufacturer of sonar seabed survey equipment.  The business was founded in 1978 and has its headquarters in a modern well-equipped factory in Great Yarmouth, UK.  In the early 1980’s the business was acquired by Ferranti, who at the time were a leading UK defence contractor.  In 1991 the business was bought back from Ferranti by way of a management buyout, led by its original founder.  Our customer list includes commercial survey companies, navies and marine research establishments in over 60 countries and, in order to provide this worldwide customer base with a high level of support, we have established regional sales and support facilities in Singapore, Houston and Mumbai.

Product Portfolio
Equipment manufactured includes:

• Side Scan Sonar systems, suitable for use in both shallow and deep water applications – we have sold over 500 of these systems.
• Sub-Bottom Profilers, conventional pinger and chirp profilers suitable for towfish deployment, overside or hull mounting.
• Deep Tow 2000 and other Combined Systems offer a one pass capability where Side Scan Sonar and Sub-Bottom Profiler data is required over the same survey area.
• Software Applications, for processing bathymetry data and sonar image analysis.
• Wide Swath Bathymetry systems, for use in shallow water (to 200 metres).  There are now over 80 systems in operation worldwide.
• Ultra Short Baseline Acoustic Tracking systems, for mine counter-measure applications.  Over 70 systems are in service with 6 Navies.
• Thermal Graphic Recorders for the display of grey scale images.

The versatile GeoAcoustics range of seabed survey products can be used individually or combined to provide a complete one-pass survey capability.  The modular design concept enables end users to build up their seabed survey capability in a cost-effective manner, without duplicating capabilities.

All GeoAcoustics products are designed and manufactured in accordance with a Quality Management System that is certified to BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
